Summer of Movies...Movies Already Out And Movies Yet To Come

The month of May is pretty much over (movie wise), with the next theatrical release date June 1st, and by all accounts, June should be a better month than what May provided. For the month of May, The Avengers set the bar (as far as summer movies go), and the rest of the month saw lackluster releases, or releases with some promise disappoint (looking at Dark Shadows, Battleship, and Men In Black 3), although the latter in that list managed to dethrone Avengers off it's top spot this past weekend, which is likely to be short lived, as Snow White and the Huntsman is released this upcoming Friday.

If your not aware, Snow White and the Huntsman stars Twilight series star (Kristen Stewart) and Thor himself (Chris Hemsworth). The week after (June 8th) brings about the much anticipated Prometheus (Riddley Scott's anticipated return to the science-fiction realm), and the first animated film of the season (Madagascar 3). June 15th brings about a film that could go either way in Adam Sandler's That's My Boy, and Rock of Ages (which very well could be #1 that weekend). June 22nd is set with Pixar's entry Brave (which will probably ultimately make more than Madagascar 3), Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World, and another movie that could go either way Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter. June closes out with Ted (Seth MacFarlane's debut live action film) and a movie that has promise, but will probably be overlooked due to the other movies - People Like Us.

The biggest heavyweight of the Summer, or at least the film that will come close to knocking off Avengers for top spot is out in July, albeit July 20th. That movie is none other than the Dark Knight Rises. The Amazing Spider-Man should take the July 4th weekend, as it's out July 3rd. July 13th sees the latest Ice Age hit theaters.

August 3rd sees the latest installment in the Bourne series. The Bourne Legacy, as well as the reboot Total Recall. Sylvester Stallone aims to close out summer on August 17th with the release of Expendables 2. There's likely to be more movies added between now and the end of Summer, however these are the titles that I've seen with release dates that you can say I'll probably be seeing, or am interested in seeing.
