Another Friday=Another Day At The Movies

Just as the title says, I spent the day at the theaters again. (Seems to be standard for me, well when I can afford it that is, and once again by myself). I happened to see three movies today. Paid for two, and saw one free. Those two that I paid for, were the first two I saw today, and the third one, I used an IMAX pass to see.

The first two movies I saw, were Men In Black 3 (3D), and What To Expect When Your Expecting, and the third movie I saw was Dark Shadows. Out of the three movies, I enjoyed What To Expect When Your Expecting the most, and will say that I rather enjoyed it.

Both Men In Black 3 and Dark Shadows left me feeling disappointed, and I will say that both movies were bad, with very few bright spots. Men In Black 3 was all in all a lame way to finish off a trilogy. The opening sequence (without going into detail) was rather bad, to say the least. The plot of the film is Agent J (Smith) going back in time to stop Agent K (Jones) from being killed. Despite being warned before time jumping not to make contact with the Agent K in the past, Agent J does, and it's almost as if no warning was ever given. The movie doesn't really get any better from there, and the end result is a movie that could and should have been more. The villain in the film comes across more childish than intimidating. His name is Boris, and at times seems dominant in the film, but as soon as you say Boris The Animal, it sets him off, and the cheesiness along with it is unleashed.

Dark Shadows is a film that went nowhere. Johnny Depp plays a vampire (is turned into one by the villain), because Depp didn't love her character. Depp is awoken in 1972, and instead of trying to get acquainted waking up two hundred years later, acts like he hasn't missed a beat all those years. The film would have been better, if it actually had a good storyline, and better character development. The ending of the film, is an example of poor character development (at least in my eyes). There really isn't much more to add to this, other than it was bad, just like Men In Black 3.

What To Expect When Your Expecting, is made the same way as Valentine's Day, and New Year's Eve. This film is also the one I enjoyed the most, which is kind of surprising, considering I don't really relate to it, at least not yet (as I have no girlfriend right now, and don't see that changing anytime soon), but still found it enjoyable nonetheless. Like Valentine's Day, and New Year's Eve, the film is loaded with stars that don't actually fully intertwine with each other until the end of the film. Like both of the other two films, this film is all about the predictable (but enjoyable) journey to the finish, and is probably more of a chick flick (I don't mind, because I actually will sit through a chick flick). I can go into further detail on this one, but I will keep it short. I recommend this one, before seeing the previous two.
